My sons couldn't have had a happier time with Young Film Academy and now seem to know more about film making than I do. This is quite awkward." Richard Curtis (Love Actually, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill, Bridget Jonesʼ Diary)

Guide to Choosing a Course
I am a beginner and I want a taste of what filmmaking is all about. Which course is right for me?
As a starting point for any budding filmmaker (aged 8-13), our Make a Film in a Day courses are the perfect introduction. Ages 10+ can start with the Four Day Film School, or our budding animators can let their creativity loose on our Animation: Make your own Lego Movie!
I want to start making films. Which course is right for me?
For those looking to get stuck in to each and every aspect of digital filmmaking, our hugely popular Four-Day Film School (ages 10-13 & 14-18) offers a hands-on overview of the whole filmmaking process. There's even a premiere for the cast and crew at a top London screening room - plus admiring friends and family. A comprehensive introduction to filmmaking, this course has proved to be the launch pad for many young talents. Or for those looking for an immersive, all-inclusive residential experience with all board and lodging provided, our incredible Filmmaking & Acting Summer Camp (ages 10-13, 14-17) is every aspiring young filmmaker's dream: eat, sleep, breathe - and make - movies for 1 or 2 weeks.
Iʼve already done the Four-Day Film School. Which courses can I do next?
Join us for summer camp! There's a two-week, higher level option for students with previous experience on our residential Filmmaking & Acting Summer Camp. This level 3 course builds on the success of our YFA BFI Film Academy course and offers students aged 14-17 the inside track to filmmaking success. This course takes them to the next level of expertise, and gives them the chance to benefit from masterclasses from film industry experts.
PLEASE NOTE: This Level 3 course is available to students who have already completed a previous filmmaking course of at least 1 day duration.
I'm more interested in Animation. What course can I do?
Our Animation: Make a Lego Movie! is a great opportunity for ages 10-13 to hone their stop motion animation skills under professional guidance and learn pro-techniques they can use art home or at school. Plus it's all about having great fun making a Lego movie!
I am away during all your course dates. Is there anything I can do?
Yes! Each year YFA arrange private filmmaking courses at the houses of clients who are unable to attend any of our courses. Private courses can accommodate between 1-6 students, and can be arranged anywhere, to fit your timetable. Call us on 0207 387 4341 to discuss a private course.
