"It is such an engaging and brilliant experience.  Our girls produced the best set of films we have seen here at Heathfield. "
Heathfield School

"Young Film Academy gave our Year 10s a fantastic start to the autumn term with a one-day course that was different, challenging and really satisfying. We were astonished at the standard of the short films produced by students in the space of a few hours – and I think they were too!"
Oxford High School

"We have used the Young Film Academy several times now and they always offer an informative and fun day.  The guidance they give our young people on making a film combined with the practical elements of film making is perfect.  It is a great day and feedback from the students is always positive."
City of London School (Boys)

"Young Film Academy returned to Emanuel this week for the fifth year running. As ever they kept the whole of Year 9 actively engaged all day, producing some really excellent, entertaining films by the end of the day. I can’t recommend them highly enough."
Emanuel School

“As ever, our pupils enjoyed The One Day Film Day School immensely. We value the team working skills which it engenders and, perhaps even more so, the cultural literacy which it imbues. Our pupils will never look at a Hollywood movie in the same way again."
Ibstock Place School

I want to say what a fantastic day we had... What was clear was that all our pupils really connected and rose to the occasion, not just the artistic and creative ones, but also those who have not necessarily shown interest in acting, or being in the limelight. It was a superbly pitched and much enjoyed day.
Ipswich School

"Our Year 8 pupils were thoroughly engaged and energised by the day's activities. The tutors made the day fun, accessible and educationally enriching."
Sevenoaks School

"Many thanks for another great day… it's the booking that keeps on giving!"

"From start to end our young film makers were locked in, entranced by the very idea of directing and producing their own film. Highly collaborative and engaging throughout, fun was most certainly had by all, including those of our staff who attended. I unreservedly recommend the one day film school. Thank you, a truly incredible experience for all."
St Joseph's College

"The pupils had a fantastic day; they learnt a lot about a range of different areas involved in film making and were inspired to continue using what they learnt after the event. The tutors had a wide range of expertise and had knowledge of working in the film environment in different kinds of fields. These types of activities are so important for the children as they not only take with them the skills learnt but also the memories of an enjoyable and exciting experience."

"YFA have been coming to our college for a number of years and it is always a success. This is an excellent way to start the academic year, where most students do not necessarily know each other. It helped with integrating the year group and broke down possible barriers. It was especially great to see some of the quieter students shine in taking more leadership in their group work."
Mander Portman Woodward

“As fraught as the start of any academic year is, I have come to know the One Day Film School as a constant of pure professionalism.  As an integration exercise, making a film in a day requires the pupils to communicate, plan and ultimately produce tangible evidence of their co-operation – it never fails.  The enjoyment and sense of achievement of the pupils is evident long after the team has gone – thank you.”
Beechwood Sacred Heart

"The girls really enjoyed the day as a fantastic opportunity to be creative with film and learning filming techniques. The tutors did a fantastic job."
St Swithun's School

"We had a great day. It was very inclusive; each pupil was engaged and involved throughout the day and really learnt something about film. The end result was great and the girls were really excited to see their own work and the work of others."
Rye St Antony

"The One Day Film School was an outstanding day; the tutors were passionate and engaging and the activities were well paced. The students learned a variety of film making techniques, but also, and equally importantly, they developed their soft skills that are so vital to young people today. The Sequel

"Our workshop was  expertly lead by The Young Film Academy's tutor who entertained, educated and excited the children in equal measure. I would not hesitate to recommend the workshop. It exceeded all our expectations and has sparked a wave of enthusiasm for film making across our Year 6."
Parkgate House School

"The Sequel is fantastic. Even the children that considered themselves expert film makers learned a huge amount."
Newton Prep

“The Sequel really stretched studentsʼ technical film-making abilities and they relished the challenge and urgency of making and editing their films in the time available. The different roles – post-production, editing etc as well as actors, producers, directors, camera operators – really enabled all students to offer something to the process and they clearly felt stimulated and proud of what they produced. These teamwork as well as technical skills are certainly transferable in- and outside of- the classroom.
Wycombe Abbey School

“This was a wonderful day for the students, as they could put their film making skills into practice, as well as develop editing, music, special effects and sound techniques. These skills are used for later assignments within the curriculum, to create films to support class texts or topics. I thoroughly recommend the day to any school. The day is exciting and stimulating for weeks and is a talking point in and out of the classroom, between students and their families, as well as providing good publicity for the school when prospective parents are touring.”

Rough Cut Workshop

"Young Film Academy was perfect for our introductory Sixth Form weekend.  The silent-film format challenged the pupils to think beyond their usual expectations of making short videos on their phones.  Having to break down their films into individual scenes pushed them to think in greater depth about what they were doing and encouraged them to work together more effectively.  It was very satisfying as a teacher to see pupils that had only just met creating some very sophisticated and clever films in such a short space of time."
St Edward's School

"The students thoroughly enjoyed themselves and gained a good understanding of filmmaking. We would recommend this course to any teachers who want to give their students the opportunity to learn more about film and the processes involved in making one."
Southbank International School

"This was a day of outstanding film education, led by a knowledgeable and expert tutor who communicated his enthusiasm to the pupils very effectively.  The day was fast-paced, with a variety of theory and practical exercises that quickly gave our students confidence in their ability to construct a visual narrative.  The results were outstanding, and the final showing of the 10-shot films took on a real festival atmosphere.  This was first-rate teaching, and hugely enjoyable."
Marlborough College

"I would highly recommend the Rough-Cut Workshop run by Young Film Academy. Our students had a wonderful experience, learning a wide variety of film making skills in a relaxed and fun way. I was amazed at how much they accomplished. The tutor was extremely knowledgeable and understood how to engage effectively with school pupils. We would definitely invite YFA back!"
Gosfield School

"We had a lovely day and the boys thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The day always zings along and the chaps are instantly captured by the mix of film clip examples, practical activities and anecdotes from behind the scenes of the movie world. I have now seen the presentation three years in succession and still love every minute of it."
Summer Fields

"As with last year the Year 10 Film Club Challenge Day was excellent.  The tutor was full of praise for their hard work, attentiveness and final films. The Year 10 worked really hard and showed imagination, creativity and talent in producing their films. An excellent and I would think memorable day."

With such an exciting blend of knowledge, technology and enthusiasm a number of children were left hooked on producing films and I have no doubt that one or two of them will go on to pursue this interest at senior school."
