Each year, the Young Film Academy Awards recognises and rewards the very best emerging filmmakers and actors. The awards ceremony takes place at the prestigious British Film Institute, Southbank London, on August 29th 2020. We are looking for the best films from filmmakers aged 11-16 that are under 10 minutes in length. If you’ve made a short film, documentary or music video, then we want to see it!

 

 

 

WINNING PRIZE WORTH £1350!

A CHANCE TO EAT, SLEEP, BREATHE MOVIES.

The winning filmmaker will get the chance of a lifetime. They’ll get a 1-week place at YFA’s all-inclusive Summer Camp 2021 worth £1350!The filmmaker will get the opportunity to learn from industry professionals and work as part of a team to make a complete short film. All boarding, meals, tuition, excursions, equipment and activities are included!

 

 

Rules

  1. Your film must be no longer than 10 minutes (including credits).
  2. You must be aged between 11-16 on 1st of September 2020.
  3. If the dialogue in your film is not in the English language, it must be subtitled in English before entering.
  4. Your entry can be any genre or type of film (Eg. horror, drama, music video, documentary).
  5. Films can only be entered by ONE filmmaker.
  6. Each film may only be entered once. 
  7. You must have permission from the other people involved in the making of your film before entering it into the Young Film Academy Awards.
  8. Your film must have been completed within the last two years.
  9. Films made on a Young Film Academy course are NOT eligible for this competition, as they are automatically entered into other categories at the Young Film Academy Awards.
  10. You must be available to attend Young Film Academy’s Residential Filmmaking and Screen Acting Summer Camp between either 1st-8th or 8th-15th of August 2021.

Terms and Conditions

  1. Young Film Academy (YFA) is not responsible for any costs incurred from attending either the Young Film Academy Awards ceremony or travelling to/from Young Film Academy’s Residential Filmmaking & Screen Acting Summer Camp 2021.
  2. By submitting your film, you are giving Young Film Academy permission to share your movie on our website, social media and other video-sharing platforms.
  3. YFA reserves the right to disqualify applicants who are unable to provide proof of their eligibility, if asked to do so by YFA.
  4. YFA reserves the right to terminate or withdraw the prize at any point, for any reason.
  5. If the winning filmmaker fails to complete a Residential Filmmaking and Screen Acting Summer Camp registration form with a legal guardian by October 31st 2020, the prize may be offered to the runner up and so forth.
  6. The prize is not exchangeable for cash value.
  7. Feedback will not be given for any submitted films.
  8. The decision of YFA is final.

Absolutely! We accept submissions from anywhere in the world. We ask only that it is possible for you to attend Summer Camp in the UK to be in with a chance to win the award.

No. All films made on Young Film Academy courses are automatically entered for YFA Awards in specific categories, please do not also submit them for this open competition.

No. Only the submitter of the film is eligible to win the placement at our Residential Summer Camp. You are required to have the permission of all participants before submitting your film.

No. We want to reward the most exciting new filmmaker with exciting opportunities. Whilst we will take a look at all submitted films, we will contact the long-list entries and check eligibility to win the award.
