This five-day online screenwriting intensive from Young Film Academy offers aspiring writers aged 14-18 an incredible opportunity to create short films scripts and receive professional feedback on their writing from Eleven Film, the UK production company behind smash hit Sex Education on Netflix.

– A professional script report from Eleven Film
– A 30 minute Zoom feedback session (per script) with Eleven Film on a Saturday, date TBC, 2-3 weeks after the course
Students will join this practical course via Zoom and experience life in a 21st Century writers room! Meeting and working with other young writers in a collaborative and supportive environment, participants will take a deep dive into the art and craft of screenwriting, guided by Young Film Academy’s professional writing coaches. Once they’ve mastered the theory, students will break out into professional writers room environments.
Each writers room will complete their own original short film script during the course. On the final day, professional actors will deliver a virtual table-read of the completed scripts, so students can hear their stories and characters brought to life by pros.
The course includes an industry masterclass from YFA’s partner Eleven Film, revealing insider tips from industry leaders who live and breathe scripts. And after the course, Eleven Film will prepare professional script reports on the completed scripts, and students from each writers room will be given the opportunity to participate in an online face-to-face feedback session with a script expert from Eleven Film – an incredible chance for young writers to get personalised professional feedback from industry insiders.

Dear YFA team, Thank you so much for turning this difficult time into such a positive experience. I was so worried about what to do with the kids when their school closed and they were stuck at home, but over the last four days they’ve had an incredible time learning new skills and were really engaged with the whole filmmaking process. Knowing that we could let them get on with it by themselves was a huge relief. The movie they produced was brilliantly creative (not sure about my cameo though…!) Young Film Academy courses are excellent for young people. They get a taste of the craft of filmmaking, in all departments and I was astonished by the speed at which they learned.
The girls had a lot of fun making their music videos and we all loved watching the final result. The tutor Nathan was great, he had lots of patience and stayed very calm. I thought the remote course was also explained very well.
Jake said it was he best course he has ever done and he is very picky and critical about what he does and doesn’t like. He loved every day!
